COVID-19 Student Relief Fund
The COVID-19 Student Relief Fund is an initiative launched by the Lakehead President and Vice-Chancellor, the Lakehead University Student Union and the Alumni Association. One of our top priorities at this time, is to provide emergency financial assistance to students facing immediate hardships associated with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This special fund will help meet their urgent needs.
The Student Relief Fund will provide assistance for:
- Food Security
- Living Costs/Temporary Housing
- Other Unforeseen Challenges
Our students need you now more than ever.
Please help them continue their Lakehead for Life journey.
My employer recently had to end my employment contract due to circumstances around the COVID-19 situation. This leaves me without a job but I still have bills and rent to pay. Moreover, I cannot travel home to India at this time, either. A majority of international students are going through a similar situation, and a lot of them do not have a means to support themselves financially. The stress on domestic and international students is very real at this time. I hope the Lakehead community may be able to provide some assistance.

I am a Masters student in Chemical Engineering. I have unfortunately lost my part-time job due to the current situation and the need to reduce shifts. As a result, I will not be able to meet my rent and other expenses. Does the University have any special funds to help me?
