Student Relief Fund
The Student Relief Fund is an initiative launched by Lakehead University and the Alumni Association of Lakehead University. Over the past year, in addition to the usual challenges that every post-secondary student faces, many have been coping with the loss of employment in our service and retail sectors. This loss of income has meant increased hardship, and caused some students to choose between buying groceries, or purchasing required materials for their courses.
The Alumni Association has made a commitment to match all gifts to the Student Relief Fund, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000 if they are made by April 30, 2021. That means that your gift will be doubled and you will be doubling your impact on students!
The Student Relief Fund will provide assistance in areas such as:
- Food security
- Emergency travel
- Living costs/ temporary housing
- Unmet basic needs/ unexpected expenses that impede access to education
- Other unforeseen challenges
