Supported by OAPPA, Lakehead University is pleased to host the newly redesigned Supervisor’s Toolkit Program. Specifically tailored to the unique challenges of facilities management, this three-day program goes beyond traditional teaching to deliver a structured, hands-on development process designed to foster both personal and professional growth for supervisors at all levels.
Program Overview & Core Modules
The Supervisor’s Toolkit: Nuts and Bolts of Facilities Supervision equips supervisors with pragmatic leadership techniques across seven core modules:
- Module 1: Supervision, What Is It? | Define effective supervision, identify supervisor roles, and master four key supervisory functions.
- Module 2: It's More than "Adminis-trivia" | Administer organizational policy, navigate legal considerations, and manage workplace resources.
- Module 3: Communication, Let's Talk! | Identify communication barriers, demonstrate practical skills, and take charge of effective dialogue.
- Module 4: If It Weren't for the People | Build and maintain strong workplace relationships and apply strategies for team cohesion.
- Module 5: Motivation and Performance | Master employee training methods, positive reinforcement, and performance management/evaluation.
- Module 6: Customer Service Triangle | Understand process, experience, and recovery to enhance service delivery in facilities.
- Module 7: Leadership—Tools for Success | Transition from managing to leading and leverage your unique leadership style.
What Is Included:
The fee includes full 3 days of interactive training, comprehensive course materials, daily breakfast, lunch, and light refreshments. Registration is restricted to the first 25 participants.
Who Can Participate:
This program is built for facilities management professionals, supervisory personnel, and leaders across operations at all levels looking to strengthen their practical management skills. No specific administrative prerequisite is required.
